Social Program Evaluators and Consultants, Inc. (aka SPEC Associates or SPEC) specializes in tailor-made program evaluations that emphasize learning. We collect high-quality information and engage our clients in reflective activities that maximize the potential for evaluation findings to be used to improve program design and implementation and to demonstrate program outcomes.

SPEC’s mission is to support the efforts of nonprofit organizations, governmental agencies, educational institutions and systems, and foundations to be more effective at helping people. SPEC’s program evaluation, process improvement and group facilitation expertise guides our clients to ask the right questions, guarantees our clients receive high-quality data collection and analysis, and assures that our clients learn what they need to know from the evaluation experience.

Established in 1980, SPEC Associates is headquartered in Southfield, Michigan. In 2008, we converted to a nonprofit corporation. The information contained on this website pertains to both the current nonprofit organization and to its predecessor.

SPEC’s services are national in scope and have been used by over 150 organizations nationwide. Our staff are members of the American Evaluation Association, the Michigan Association for Evaluation, the American Psychological Association, the American Society for Quality, the Canadian Evaluation Society, and the International Listening Association.

All SPEC projects abide by the professional standards and Guiding Principles of the American Evaluation Association. All SPEC staff are certified in the responsible conduct of research through the Collaborative Institutional Training Initiative.
